Ginataan na Manok with Shrimp Paste (Alamang)

Well, this is a dish that I experimented.  I love foods that are cooked in coconut milk.  This time I used it with chicken.  And the twist is, I also added 'alamang' or shrimp paste.  Jump for the recipe below.

Cooking Instruction for Ginataan na Manok with Shrimp Paste (Alamang)


1 kilo chicken breast skinned and debone and cut in cubes
Grated meat from 1 pc brown coconut
2 tbsp shrimp paste
1 medium size garlic minced
1 medium size onion minced
2 pcs chili minced
1 tbsp cooking oil

How to Cook:

  1. Add water to grated coconut and squeeze to get the milk (use cheese cloth or just bare hands)  Set aside.
  2. Heat pan and add oil
  3. Saute onion, garlic and shrimp paste
  4. Pour in coconut milk
  5. When starts to boil, add the chicken
  6. Keep it boiling in low heat until chicken becomes tender.  Stir occasionally.
  7. Add the chili
Serving Size:  6-8
